Menopause & Hot Flashes

A U.S. clinical study found that HMRlignan™ effectively reduces hot flashes by 50% in postmenopausal women.1 Completed by Medicus Research in Northridge, CA, the pilot study compared the effect of two doses of HMRlignan™ (36 mg and 72 mg per day) over an 8-week treatment period. Compared to baseline (pre-treatment), women taking 72 mg of HMRlignan™ per day had a significant reduction in the number of hot flashes after just 4 weeks (55%; p= 0.009). At 8 weeks, the mean reduction in daily hot flashes was 50% (p = 0.025). Women taking 72 mg/day noted 79% fewer severe hot flashes compared to baseline at week 4 (p < 0.001) and 80% fewer at week 8 (p < 0.001). No significant side effects or safety issues were identified in the study.
